A Geo Confluence is a point of intersection between integer degree values of longitude and latitude.
There happens to be one of these points located in Port Phillip Bay about off Ricketts Point, in Beaumaris.
This event involves a paddle from Ricketts Point to S38 00.000 E145 00.000, which is a distance of about 2.8km and it should take about 30 mins if conditions are favourable.
The idea is to meet at the Parking Waypoint in the car park at Ricketts Point, and be ready to paddle off by 8am.
At the Confluence Point we will attempt to line up all the kayaks side by side raft fashion, and take an official event photograph, and socialise for at least 30 mins. Then we'll all head back to shore at the starting point.
Unfortunately there is metered parking at the car park, and it costs $5.70 per hour from 8am.
If that's an issue it would be possible to unload your gear and then go and park in nearby streets, but a car shuffle would be needed as you would need to be a fair way away from the launching point as there is no parking between 6am and 10am on the weekend due to bikes on Beach Road.

The car park at Ricketts Point is right on the water and access to the water is very easy, from a shallow beach adjacent to the car park.
The tide will be still going out at 8am, with low tide being about 9:30am, so it shouldn't have much affect on the paddle and we would normally expect a calm morning.
If the conditions are not suitable on the day, I will send out an Announcement below, so check the cache page before you leave.
There will be morning tea available in the car park, after the event on the water concludes.
Everybody must wear a life jacket and meet all the safety requirements related to choice of water craft, which for kayaks is basically making sure you're wearing a life jacket.
Day has a geocache based on visiting these confluence points, and visiting this one may be useful if you intend doing that cache.
