A walk of 0.4 mile along the paved Penstock Trail will bring you to the cache. The Penstock Trail extends for a mile back towards Lincoln and runs along the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River en route to the cache. The trail is named after the penstock (a manmade channel) through which water once flowed downstream to the Lincoln paper mill. Some remnants of the penstock can be spotted along the riverside section of the trail. - there was once a cache there, but it has been archived. There is a cache (Loon Beach 2) at the parking area and another (Penstock Trail) 0.2 mile along the Penstock Trail. The Along the Penstock cache is located about 35 feet off the trail on the north side (towards Route 112). It should be winter-friendly with less than two feet of snow. There is a picnic area by the parking lot, a nice spot to take a break after grabbing the caches.
