Geocache Description:

Here is another edition in our puzzle series providing you history of various towns in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

N 41° 52.T[U-1]V W 071° 20.X[Y+1]Z

The first European settler in Pawtucket was Joseph Jenckes, who purchased about 60 acres near Pawtucket Falls in 167Z.

Other settlers followed Jencks, and by 177V the Pawtucket area was home to manufacturers of muskets, linseed oil, potash, and ship building.

East of the Blackstone River was originally settled as part of the Massachusetts town of Rehoboth, then was incorporated as Pawtucket, Massachusetts in 182Y.

In 187X, the land west of the river was taken from North Providence and added to the (now Rhode Island) town of Pawtucket, and in 1885-1886 West and East Pawtucket were merged and the city was incorporated.

Pawtucket was an early and important center of cotton textiles during the American Industrial Revolution. Slater Mill, built in 179T by Samuel Slater on the Blackstone River falls in downtown Pawtucket, was the first fully mechanized cotton-spinning mill in America.

On September U, 1977, The Beach Boys performed a concert at Narragansett Park that was attended by 40,000 people, the largest concert audience in Rhode Island history.

The final cache is a black micro that should be able to be located in the winter months. Hope you enjoy.
