Esta cache foi construída no âmbito do curso para professores “Geocaching – uma ferramenta educativa”, realizado na Escola Secundária da Lagoa em abril/maio de 2018.

De acordo com os últimos dados disponibilizados pelo INE-Instituto Nacional de Estatística, a freguesia de São Pedro de Nordestinho é habitada por 273 pessoas.
Nesta freguesia é possível visitar a Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Pranto, um teatro do Divino Espírito Santo e a Igreja, tendo como padroeiro São Pedro.

In this parish it is possible to visit the Hermitage of Our Lady of Pranto, a theater of the Divine Holy Spirit and the Church, having as patron Saint Peter.
A Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Pranto, pousada numa pastagem plana e sobranceira ao mar, tem uma história de cinco séculos, sendo a última reconstrução de 1895.
Segundo conta a lenda deste templo, depois do célebre terramoto de 1522, a Virgem Maria teria aparecido a um jovem pastor, anunciando-lhe que Ponta Delgada seria fustigada pelo flagelo da peste, pedindo-lhe a construção da ermida. A população, aflita, levantou um Templo à Virgem Maria na invocação da Senhora do Pranto. Facto comprovado ou não, a verdade é que este pequeno templo tem subsistido ao longo dos tempos e continua a ser objeto de peregrinações.
The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora do Pranto, nestled in a flat pasture and overlooking the sea, has a history of five centuries, being the last reconstruction of 1895.
According to the legend of this temple, after the famous earthquake of 1522, the Virgin Mary would have appeared to a young shepherd, announcing to her that Ponta Delgada would be whipped by the scourge of the plague, requesting the construction of the hermitage. The afflicted population raised a Temple to the Virgin Mary in the invocation of the Lady of Sorrow. Evidently proven or not, the truth is that this little temple has subsisted over time and continues to be the object of pilgrimages.
Na freguesia de São Pedro grande parte da população dedica-se à criação de gado, nomeadamente para a produção de leite de excelente qualidade. Para produzir este “ouro branco” os animais necessitam de prados verdejantes e de água. Pela Rua da Palha, que antes era habitada por inúmeras pessoas, pode encontrar vários desses tanques de água para os animais beberem. Para além disso pode, se a Mãe Natureza permitir, ter o privilégio de observar a freguesia de uma perspetiva que poucos conhecem. Pode ainda, ter o privilégio do silêncio e aproveitar para descansar ao som dos pássaros e do vento. Aproveite não se vai arrepender.
In the parish of São Pedro, a large part of the population is dedicated to raising cattle, especially for the production of excellent milk. To produce this "white gold" the animals need green meadows and water. On Rua da Palha, once inhabited by numerous people, you can find several of these water tanks for the animals to drink. In addition, if Mother Nature permits, you may have the privilege of observing the parish from a perspective few people know about.
