Geocache Description:

It can seem like that some days – that you’ve landed in the midst of the 101 Dalmatians’ day out. Today as I went scouting along Gardiner’s Creek Trail to find another hiding spot for a recently acquired geocache container, I was greeted by a very friendly Dalmatian – he walked right into me and bumped his nose on my thigh.

Not long later as I sat near GZ contemplating if this would meet all criteria, another curious Dalmatian headed my direction until its owner called him back. He is named Oscar, and you might even meet him here.

Some fun facts about Disney’s 101 Dalmatian (https://www.deseretnews.com/top/2528/20/101-Dalmatians-1961-50-things-you-might-not-know-about-your-favorite-Disney-films-1955-1986.html):

"101 Dalmatians marked a giant shift in Disney storytelling in a number of ways:

1. It was the first Disney film that was current with a contemporary score.

2. It was the first Disney animated feature to not really count as a musical, despite the character Roger's being a songwriter. The only songs in the film are "Cruella De Vil" and "Dalmatian Plantation," with a "Kanine Krunchies" jingle included on the track listings.

3. It was the first full Disney film to be made using the Xerox process. Rather than following the hand-inked process used previously, Xeroxing allowed animators to skip the tracing step. It gave the drawings a rougher, scratchier look that Walt Disney wasn't fond of, but sped up the process and made the film possible.”

Deseret News goes on to say that “Pongo has 76 spots, Perdita has 69 spots and each of the puppies has 32 spots. Crews had to go in and draw each of those spots on each frame.” It also adds that “Roger's singing voice was provided by Bill Lee, who provided the singing voice of Captain Von Trapp in the film, "The Sound of Music" a few years later.”

There’s a lovely enclosed playground near here that your pet’s younger pets might want to check out. Most weekends in the late afternoon there’s an informal canine social gathering in the big field that is enclosed by the walking tracks nearby. On such occasions if it’s not 101 Dalmatians, it might be Lady and the Tramp.

And as if to confirm this park’s popularity for our canine friends, as I departed the parking area today (corner of Station Street and Gardiners Creek near the lawn bowls club), a professional dog walking van arrives.

This cache is about the size of a plum. Please make sure the lid is secure before you return it to its hidey spot. BYO signature marking instrument. I look forward to reading your adventure – with or without your geopet.
