Now that the geokid is getting older, it was time to get an account for them. As we were walking through the area discussing all the construction work, they thought it may be a good place for a cache, so here it is!
Historic Apponaug village is a historically rich centre in Rhode island. Several major arteries converge here and after decades of traffic headaches the only solution was to break up the single, large rotary that sprawled the village center into 5 smaller rotaries while eliminating many one-way's in the process.
$71 million dollars later, the project is quite a success and smooth sailing can be had any time of day through this area, though salty Rhode Islanders gripe about the complexity. A major part of this project was a slight re-routing of the Hardig River, new bridge, and construction of a large drainage field to handle the new roadways.
With construction now complete, the only thing left to do it sit back and enjoy the newness of the smooth roads, shiny guard rails, fancy stone/brick work, and vivid signage guiding the high-strung motorists on their way!
Watch for muggles!
Congrats to GEOteam0105 for the FTF!!!!!
