Torre Sineira Traditional Geocache

A Rede das Aldeias do Xisto é um projeto de desenvolvimento sustentável, de âmbito regional, liderado pela ADXTUR- Agência para o Desenvolvimento Turístico das Aldeias do Xisto, em parceria com 21 Municípios da Região Centro e com cerca de 100 operadores privados que atuam no território.

Estado presentes em quatro Unidades de Paisagem (Serra da Lousã, Serra do Açor, Zêzere e Tejo-Ocreza), as Aldeias do Xisto representam um belíssimo património cultural e natural. Com vastas possibilidades que vão desde a gastronomia à etnografia, das ruralidades e da ligação à natureza e à floresta, as Aldeias do Xisto têm enorme potencial turístico e não só.

O projeto Geocaching Aldeias do Xisto propõe aumentar a oferta de pontos de interesse associados a esta prática da caça ao tesouro do sec. XXI. Pretende dotar cada aldeia com pelo menos duas caches e integrar algumas já existentes em circuitos e percursos pedestres.

The Schist Villages area is a region of Portugal’s interior that has successfully been promoted to tourists. The brand is managed by the ADXTUR association, the Agency for the Touristic Development of the Schist Villages, and brings together 21 Municipalities of the central region of Portugal, and more than 100 private local operations, which all share the common strategy of promoting and revitalising an area where schist stone dominates the landscape.

Present in four Landscape Units (Serra da Lousã, Serra do Açor, Zêzere and Tejo-Ocreza), the Schist Villages represent a beautiful cultural and natural heritage. With vast possibilities ranging from gastronomy to ethnography, rurality and the connection to nature and to the forest, the Schist Villages have enormous touristic potential, among others.

The Geocaching Schist Villages Project proposes to increase the offer of points of interest associated with this practice treasure hunting of the XXI century. It intends to equip each village with at least two caches and integrate some already existent in circuits and pedestrian routes.

Sarzedas é a única Aldeia do Xisto que teve um título nobiliárquico atribuído. Atualmente, a torre sineira serve de miradouro para a aldeia e para a charneca que a envolve.

A aldeia de Sarzedas insere-se no concelho de Castelo Branco (18 km), região da Beira Interior Sul que compreende a parcela do território da Beira Baixa situada na “zona raiana”, tendo por limites, a Norte, a serra da Gardunha e, a Sul, o rio Tejo. Está situada à beira daquela que foi, desde o séc. XVIII e até grande parte do séc. XX, a principal estrada de Castelo Branco para Proença-a-Nova, Sertã, Abrantes/Lisboa e Coimbra.

Localizada no Alto de São Jacinto, um morro junto à Igreja Matriz, no local onde até ao início do séc. XX existiu a Capela de S. Jacinto. É uma estrutura com três ventanas que alojam outros tantos sinos. Recentemente foi colocada escada em ferro que permite o acesso ao nível em que estes estão colocados, de onde se abrange um extenso panorama.

Sarzedas is the only Schist Village attached to a noble title. Nowadays, the bell tower serves as a vantage point from which to enjoy the beautiful views over the village and surrounding heath.

The village of Sarzedas is in the municipality of Castelo Branco (18 km from the city). This is the region of Beira Interior Sul that includes the stretch of Beira Baixa territory situated in the “border area”, delimited to the north by the Serra da Gardunha mountain range and to the south by the River Tagus. It is situated beside what was, from the 18th century through most of the 20th century, the main road from Castelo Branco to Proença-a-Nova, Sertã, Abrantes/Lisbon and Coimbra.

Located on the Alto de São Jacinto, a hill next to the Mother church, on the spot where, until the beginning of the 20th century, the Chapel of S. Jacinto stood. The structure has three openings, each housing a bell. An iron staircase was recently added to allow access to the belfry, from where one can enjoy a sweeping panorama.
