Geocache Description:

This is another in my series of century challenges located somewhere near VT 100.   This one requires you to have found at least 100 VT caches, of any type, and have completed a 100 day streak of finds.  Your streak does not have to be entirely in VT, or even in VT at all.  But you must have had 100 days of continuous finds at some time in your caching history.  That is, at least one cache a day for at least 100 days, without missing a day.   You must verify your qualifications with the handy checker, located here: PGC CheckerYour stats on Geocaching.com report your longest streaks, and your VT finds can be found their under the maps tab.

This cache is close to the day use area of the state park. In season, that is a good place for a picnic lunch, with camping, boating, swimming, rest rooms and a pleasant place to enjoy the reservoir. The cache is not in the park, and no fee is required to access the cache.

When I started caching, veteran VT cachers explained to me that streaks are harder in VT than other places.  The two main reasons are:  1) winter, and 2) rural.   This may not be obvious if you don't live in rural area with hard winters.   Why?  Because VT is a state made up of small towns.  If you live in a city, you will have 100s and maybe 1000s of caches to choose from within a ten mile radius. However, if you live in East Tinytown, you don't.  Maybe you have 150 to choose from.  And maybe half of them are pretty much inaccessible in the winter.  When you start out, you may get most of the easily accessible caches around your home in a short time.  This leaves the more difficult or less accessible, the mountain hikes, the kayak caches, which most people do only certain times of the year.  Hard to sustain a streak (if you have a life other than caching).  How does one overcome this?  A.)  A lot of travel.  B) Go on vacation a lot, or retire. C. Travel for a living.

But, if you are early in your caching career in VT,, and you want to have a long streak, without having to travel farther and farther to get caches, here are some suggestions.   1) Start in the spring after the worst weather is over.  2) If you have an easy P&G series near your home, do not do them all at once.  Leave them for those days you can't travel, (like work days)  and do them one at a time.  3) Create an easy P&G series (or any other cache or series of caches) for others to enjoy. It won't help your streak, but if the next guy in the next town or county does the same, it would.  4)  Don't complain about lame park and grabs.  Understand they have a place in caching.    5) Go on vacation or retire somewhere warmer in the winter where you can cache every day.  With these tips, maybe you can get a 365 day streak.  But for this, you just need 100.  Plus 100 VT finds.

This is a micro, no room for a pencil.  Bring a pen.  If you don't yet qualify, you may sign and post a note here, but do not log a find online until you can prove your qualification.

Bragging rights for FTF go to Cornflakes!  Good luck with all your challenges!
