GRUTA DE ÁGUA DE PAU
A Gruta de Água de Pau é uma “gruta” portuguesa localizada na freguesia de Água de Pau, concelho da Lagoa, ilha de São Miguel, arquipélago dos Açores.
Este fenómeno geológico cavidade apresenta uma geomorfologia de origem vulcânica e localiza-se numa arriba costeira. Este acidente geológico faz parte da Rede Natura 2000.
Este fenómeno geológico, de difícil acesso é o mais ramificado da ilha de São Miguel, apresentando troços com orientações diferentes e a vários níveis.
ATENÇÃO
Se desejar visitar esta “gruta” deverá planear com cuidados esta expedição e munir-se do necessário material de escalada e de espeologia. Não deverá desenvolver esta actividade sozinho.
PARA REALIZAR E REGISTAR ESTA EARTHCACHE:

Para “encontrar/registar” esta cache deverá: provar que esteve no local e responder às seguintes questões, enviando um email/mensagem de Geocaching, com as respostas, em português ou em inglês, para o nosso perfil.
Só depois, de enviar as respostas, e conforme as “guidelines” para as Earthcaches, deverá efectuar o seu registo!
Serão removidos todos os registos que não obedeçam a estes requisitos.
Com base nas tuas observações efectuadas na visita a esta “gruta” e com base nas tuas investigações, procura responder às seguintes questões.:
1) Nas paredes desta “gruta” são visíveis várias cores. Identifica quais.
2) Na tua opinião, a cor mais clara e brilhante deve-se a quê?
3) Caracteriza esta “substância” brilhante, que aparece nas paredes desta “gruta”, indicando o seu nome e propriedades.
4) Explica, do ponto de vista morfológico/geológico como terá aparecido ali aquela “substância”.
5) Identifica, São visíveis “bancadas” nesta “gruta”?
Se afirmativo, quando se entra na”gruta” estão à esquerda ou à direita?
6) Nesta “gruta” são visíveis estalactites? E estalagmites?
7) No caso de existirem estalactites, estima o seu comprimento máximo.
E das estalagmites?
8) Qual o comprimento máximo desta gruta?
9) Estamos na presença de uma gruta ou de um tubo lávico? Justifica.
10) No fundo do túnel, que existe na primeira ramificação à esquerda, é observável algum fenómeno geológico?
Se sim, qual?

“Água D´Alto” CRANE
The Water Cave of Pau is a Portuguese "grotto" located in the parish of Água de Pau, municipality of Lagoa, island of São Miguel, archipelago of the Azores.
This geological phenomenon cavity presents a geomorphology of volcanic origin and it is located in a coast above. This geological accident is part of the Natura 2000 Network.
This geological phenomenon, difficult to access is the most branched of the island of São Miguel, presenting sections with different orientations and at various levels.
ATTENTION
If you wish to visit this "grotto" you should carefully plan this expedition and provide yourself with the necessary climbing and spying material. You should not do this activity alone.

QUESTIONS:
To "find / register" this cache should: prove that you were on the spot and respond to the following questions by sending an email / Geocaching message, with the answers, in Portuguese or English, to our profile.
Only then, to send the answers, and according to the guidelines for Earthcaches, you must register!
All records that do not meet these requirements will be removed.
Based on your observations made on the visit to this "cave" and based on your investigations, try to answer the following questions:
1) Several colors are visible on the walls of this cave. Identify which.
2) In your opinion, the clearest and brightest color is due to what?
3) It characterizes this "substance" bright, that appears in the walls of this "grotto", indicating its name and properties.
4) Explain, from the morphological / geological point of view, how that "substance" appeared there.
5) Identify, Are "benches" visible in this "grotto"?If so, when you enter the "grotto" are they left or right?
6) In this "grotto" are stalactites visible? And stalagmites?
7) If there are stalactites, estimate their maximum length.
What about stalagmites?
8) What is the maximum length of this cave?
9) Are we in the presence of a grotto or a lava tube? Justify.
10) At the bottom of the tunnel, which exists in the first branch on the left, is there any geological phenomenon observable? If so, which one?
