O CLUBE
O Clube de Geocaching ESL funciona desde 2017, tendo resultado de várias atividades sobre Geocaching, realizadas anualmente e desde 2014, nesta escola, inseridas no plano anual de atividades (PAA), contando sempre com a colaboração do Conselho Executivo, professores e alunos. Tem como entidades parceiras: Câmara Municipal de Lagoa (CML), Clube Náutico de Lagoa, EXPOLAB e OVGA (Casa dos Vulcões). Conta neste ano letivo (2018/2019) com cento e dois alunos inscritos e com oito professores dinamizadores.
Por proposta da CML foram já produzidas dez caches temáticas sobre assuntos importantes e históricos para este concelho. Mais caches estão em preparação. Este clube participou no Concurso Internacional de Filmes de Geocaching (GIFF – 2018) com o filme “DREAM”, tendo obtido uma honrosa posição.
O Clube tem dado um importante contributo na formação dos alunos dos cursos profissionais na área: do Turismo Rural e Ambiental e da Gestão Ambiental. Também tem colaborado na realização dos cursos de Geocaching, para professores, enquanto ferramenta educativa, promovidos pelo Newrónio e realizados com formandos (professores) de várias escolas e de várias ilhas.
Algumas das atividades organizadas por este clube têm sido: atividades formativas em sala de aula, produção de caches de Geocaching, visitas de estudo, percursos de trilhos, organização de conferências e de eventos (nomeadamente eventos CITO e atividades de caracter desportivo no âmbito da canoagem e mergulho.
Este Clube, no âmbito da parceria existente, também tem colaborado com a CML na atualização do “roteiro urbano” e no “roteiro de trilhos pedestres” deste concelho, estando neste ano a dar continuidade a este projeto uma das turmas finalistas dos cursos profissionais.

História da escola
A Escola Secundária de Lagoa, localizada no concelho de Lagoa, S. Miguel, Açores, foi criada a 27 de fevereiro de 2001 pelo Decreto Regulamentar Regional n.º 2/2001/A, e foi oficialmente inaugurada no dia 20 de novembro de 2001. Sendo a primeira escola da Região criada de raiz para servir exclusivamente o Ensino Secundário dos concelhos de Lagoa e de Vila Franca do Campo.

THE CLUB
The ESL Geocaching Club exists since 2017 and was founded as a result of several activities about Geocaching, which had been held annually since 2014 as part of the school’s annual activity plan. All the activities performed by the club have the collaboration of the school’s Executive Council, teachers, staff and students. The City Hall of Lagoa, The Nautical Club, EXPOLAB and OVGA (A Volcano House) are the partner entities of the ESL Geocaching club. In the current school year (2018/2019), the club has one hundred and two students registered and eight teachers that are responsible for organizing the activities of the club.
The Geocaching Club has already made ten thematic caches about important topics and historical places in the city of Lagoa; and many more caches are being prepared. This club also participated in the International Geocaching film Contest in 2018 with the film “Dream”, achieving an honourable position.
The Geocaching Club has been giving an important contribution in student training in what regards the vocational courses of Turismo Rural e Ambiental (Rural and Environmental Tourism) and Gestão Ambiental (Environmental management). It has also collaborated in the development of Geocaching courses as an educational tool for teachers, which are promoted by Newrónio and are aimed for teachers from several schools and islands
Some of the activities promoted by the club are: formative activities in the classroom; the creation of Geocaching caches; field trips; rail trails; conferences and events (namely CITO events) and sports activities like diving and canoeing.
This club has also collaborated with the city hall with the urban road map and the pedestrian trails of the county, and this school year one of the finalist class of a vocational course is responsible for the project continuity.

History of the school
The Lagoa Secondary School, located in the municipality of Lagoa, S. Miguel, Azores, was created on February 27, 2001 by Regional Regulatory Decree no. 2/2001, and was officially inaugurated on November 20, 2001 Being the first school of the Region created of root to exclusively serve the Secondary Education of the counties of Lagoa and Vila Franca of the Field.
