This cache is off the American Tobacco Trail south of Scott King Road

NOTE:
I moved this cache to dryer ground on Sunday 27 April 2003. I also changed the container to a more waterproof container and replaced the log book.

The American Tobacco Trail will run from downtown Durham to New Hill in Wake county. Portions of this trail are now complete. This cache is on the portion that runs from Massey Chapel Rd. to an old railroad bridge in Chatham County. The cache is on the final segment of this portion from Scott King Road to the old railroad bridge. Most of the walk/ride to the cache is on the trail. The cache contains some odds and ends in a tupperware container. Take what you like and leave what you like. Please sign the logbook.

This is the first cache I have hidden. I think it should be easy to find in less than an hour. I use this portion of the trail regularly with my dog. The trail is well used, but I enjoy it in the evenings after work or on a weekend morning. I have seen turkey, deer, beaver, as well as variour snakes and turtles. I hope you also enjoy the trail.

I added a pen to the cache - I included a logbook but forgot a pen - 8/20/02

I checked on the cache today after being away for a while. The cache is still accessible despite ice storm damage. The contents are damp, but the vistor's book is dry. - 01/25/03

I was out here looking for other caches and decided to check on my own. It was in pretty good shape, but the environment had changed in last three years. The nearby pond was empty and the area was more overgrown than a remembered. I updated the rating accordingly. Also, I think the cache has been moved slightly. The co-ords I got today were 35.51.802N 78.55.687W. It will be interesting to see what others get.
