The parish of Paderne survived mainly from agriculture due to the streams, which were mainly used for this purpose. Cereals and nuts were the major contribution to the wealth of the town, so this mill was of extreme importance for the milling of cereal.
Situated at the top of the hill of the same name, it is made of stone, sand and lime, a construction typical of its time. The age of the mill is not accurately known but thought to be the oldest in the parish. Its position was favourable for the required winds to drive the sails.
It has recently been refurbished and is open to the public Monday – Friday 10am – 1pm and Weekends 10am – 4pm
The town of Paderne is of great historic interest with its Roman Bridge & Moorish Castle, it also has a watermill on the river below the castle and a fonte on the outskirts of town. So well worth a visit after finding this cache.

Foi recentemente remodelado e está aberto ao público de segunda a sexta das 10h às 13h e aos fins de semana das 10h às 16h
