Infinity 1 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

VegasScotty: This geocache is being archived because as luck would have it, it is right smack in the middle of the new Gemini Solar and Battery Storage Project.

Gemini is believed to be the world’s largest solar PV and battery storage project announced to date. Gemini is a >> US$1 billion, 690-megawatt solar array and a battery system capable of storing more than 1,400 megawatt hours of solar power. Gemini will be constructed on federal land 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of Las Vegas by the end of 2023.

So yeah, lucky me. [xx(]

Geocache Description:

General Info:
This is a series of 23 geocaches. The entire series is slightly more than 2.6 miles if you do both loops, with each loop being 1.3 miles. You can drive right up to this cache, which is the center of the series, in anything that drives. I recommend an SUV or something with a little ground clearance for easier parking.

The road to this cache is bumpy and narrow, if you plan to do the whole series in one big push, and you have a nice sedan, just park near 'Infinity 7', or the road, and start your walk from there.

That's about it! This is a fun, quick series that you can do in one or two easy trips. There is a little sand and some gravel while walking out here, but there are NO big washes or ravines to cross and no hills to climb. In short, this walk in the desert is a blast! Take your time and have fun. :-)

Just to be safe, please do look out for snakes, thorns, and other stuff that might hurt you.

The elevation of this series is around 2,100' (640m), so it's within the possible area of the desert tortoise. I did not see any signs of the desert tortoise when placing these caches, but if you happen to run across one, remember they are a protected species. You can look and take pictures, but do not touch or interfere with them.

All of these caches are 1.5" x 1.5" small plastic jars hidden under (protected by) rocks. You know... SPORs (Suspicious Pile of Rocks) Please return each cache as you found it, to keep is safe.

Getting here:
Check google maps, but this is right off of the Valley of Fire Highway. The hardest part about starting this series is driving off of the pavement onto the dirt road where parking and the geocaches are. Like so often out here there is a bump or a drop or a ditch when driving off of roadways. Here it's a bump. Not a big bump, but if you're driving a Lexus or a Prius you might want to just park on the shoulder. Anything with more than 2" of clearance (or a rental) should be no problem.

And Lastly, if you find a problem with a cache (like it's missing or broken or something) feel free to fix or replace it as needed, but please let me know; in addition, you can also leave a 'Needs Maintenance' log instead of sending me a message. Since maintenance of the entire series is my responsibility, I will happily pop over and take care of it!

Have fun, Stay Strong, and Cache On!

Special Note:
This area is closed... as in no cross-country driving is allowed. As I placed these caches I saw lots of tire tracks in the area. But as geocachers, we know that driving to these caches is NOT allowed....

Thanks!
