YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CLEAR TUPPERWARE CONTAINER WITH A WHITE TOP
Parking for this cache is at the old "Gates Homestead" or " The Hilltop " The coordinates to parking are N42°29.507, W072°02.372. After reading a brief histoty of the homestead you can access the trail from the back corner of the field. The trail is washed out by run off water in areas and may be rocky in some spots. Seeing deer is not uncommon on this hike. Wear hunter orange during hunting season please. You will be on good trail for all but the last 500 feet. No bushwacking is needed but off trail walking is required. There may be some rock jumping in wet areas depending on your approach to the cache. Watch out for the beavers. This is our first cache to hide and any feedback would be appreciated. A little 9/11 dedication to the first finder.
**** UPDATE ****
Finding that getting by the beaver dam has become a PITA. A dry access can be found by continuing North on Mt. Jefferson road past Cross Rd and accessing the Mill Pond Trail on the left just past the fire pond. Another dry access is from Root Rd in Hubbardston where there is access from the back right corner of one of the fields(used by horses) which brings you right to the mill pond. I will post Parking coordinates for both area as soon as I get them. I was out today without my GPS. I have updated the terrain level to 3 stars based on the current trail conditions.
