Each year since 1871, Bendigo has been holding its annual Easter Festival from Good Friday until Easter Monday. Over time the event has grown in popularity and now attracts over 100,000 visitors. The festival always has a packed program (Google it for more information!) and on Easter Sunday includes a Parade with a large Chinese section including an imperial dragon (Sun Loong).
The location for the event is the relatively new Eaglehawk Regional Play Space, located right next to Lake Neangar which is a special space that caters for young people of all ages. The play space opened on 16 September 2018 and is multi-zoned with both passive and active areas for children with various skills and abilities. The space is both creative and unique, featuring custom-designed play equipment inspired by the poems of Banjo Patterson. The play equipment consists of seven swings, five slides, a carousel, a book stand, a fairy house, a hammock, a sand pit and a double flying fox for the older children.
So why not make a day of it? Come to Bendigo nice and early! From there you can find geocaches if you wish, or simply enjoy some of the festival activities on offer, then finish the day by meeting up with like-minded geocachers for a fun social chat!
