We all love something sweet when out for a day of caching.
If you're out and about enjoying the school holidays or the fresh Autumn weather on the 12th April, why not enjoy some licorice on International Licorice Day.
Enjoyed by people across the globe, licorice has a distinctive flavour and is found in many modern sweets.
Created in 2004, Licorice Day celebrates the rich history of black licorice.
Licorice is extracted from the licorice plant and can be used for confectionery, to flavour a drink and also has medicinal purposes.
The word “licorice” refers to the root of a plant called Glycyrrhiza glabra. It’s native to Europe and Asia however the plant is actually classified as a weed in those areas.
The early Egyptians loved licorice root. They used it in tea as a cure-all concoction. Licorice was later imported to China where it became an important herb in Chinese medicinal tradition.
Please join us at Crusoe Reservoir & No 7 Park to catch up with or meet fellow geocachers and enjoy plenty of friendly chatting about our favourite hobby with the bonus of some licorice taste testing.
