This is a continuation of the famous Church Micros series started by Sadexploration.
The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates which will take you to the Eglwys Bresbyteriadd Cymru (Presbyterian Church of Wales) in Lind Road, Sutton. This little chapel is easy to miss when driving past and many people do not know it is there. Moreover, it is difficult to find out much about the history of the building. Set in the part of Sutton known as 'New Town', it was originally a Primitive Methodist chapel and is listed in Kelly's Directory of 1891 as holding Sunday services at 11 am, 3pm and 6.30 pm. The Surrey History Centre holds minutes, accounts and a baptism register for this church from 1917 to 1963 but at some point the building became a place of worship for a Welsh Presbyterian congregation with services conducted in the Welsh language.
This church in Lind Road is the sister church of the larger Capel Cymraeg Clapham (Clapham Welsh Chapel) and both these are within the Eglwys Undedig De Llundain (the United South London Presbyterian Church of Wales). Sunday services are held at the Lind Road chapel at 3.30 pm and are mostly all spoken in Welsh although they provide translations of the sermon in English. The congregation includes people who speak Welsh but also those learning the language or have an interest in Welsh spirituality and culture.
