Parth Galen
“We cannot use it, and what is done with it turns to evil.” Frodo
Parth Galen means green sward in elven tongue and is at the foot of the great mountains; Amon Hen, Tol Brandir and Amon Lhaw. These are all tall mountains known for their surpassing and extended views across the lands of middle earth. Parth Galen is also located on the western edge of the great Nen Hithoel lake. Just down the river is the spectacular Rauros falls which leads into the marshes below.
When the fellowship arrived at Parth Galen, they beached their boats and set up camp for the night. They had a very important decision to make. Whether to continue with the ring to Mordor or to continue into Gondor to help Boromir’s people. Most of the company chose to follow the ring bearer, so Frodo was sent to ponder his decision. While he was thinking, Boromir came and spoke to Frodo. He was convinced that the ring should be used in favour of the people against Sauron instead of destroying it, regardless of what he had heard from the council of Elrond. When Frodo refused, Boromir tried to take the ring by force. Frodo put the ring on and fled, down to the boats to try to leave. The company sent out a search party for him after they had found Boromir. Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn hadn’t got far before they heard the sound of Boromir’s horn. When they rushed to see him, he was dead and Orcs had captured Merry and Pippin. Sam had also ran away with Frodo. Thus the company was broken. They sent Boromir’s body down the falls of Rauros to rest for eternity.
The Cache
After continuing along the management vehicle track, look for the given trailhead waypoint. Here you must navigate your way down to the creek where you will find the cache situated atop a rocky hill on the Eastern side of the creek. The cache is a tactix container hidden under a rock near a tree. See spoiler photo if you need a hint.
