Geocache Description:

Shall I ring or write? There would have been a time when being faced with those options, one would have considered oneself lucky.

It was brought home to me just how central and important a role the post office played in the early days of settlement on my recent trip to Goolwa in South Australia as I explored the history of the wharf historical precinct.

The post master formed a vital link for communication for news from home in far away lands. At a time when a letter could take months to traverse the seas before it reached its intended recipients – if the ship did not get shipwrecked or met pirates or the ink become indecipherable from the elements.

I remember well the late 1980s when I would have to wait for weeks to get a reply to my letters home. I was an overseas student then and home was the capital city of a state in south east Asia that few would have heard of. There were even times when my letters would go astray.

Phone calls were extremely expensive – especially given the exchange rate as well. So, phone calls were rare.

So now, standing where you are, faced with such options, which would you choose for your preferred means of communication? Probably neither as you clutch your smartphone in your hand and ponder the coordinates.

But, seriously, which will you choose? I mean which will you choose to search first?...

This cache is a micro/nano. Please ensure that the cache is replaced carefully and securely after you have signed the tiny space just available for a date and your initial to maximise the number of people able to sign on the log. Ballpoint pen is preferred on this builder’s stone-paper which is supposed to be waterproof even if it feels limp. Do time your search well to keep this cache safe from muggles. Plenty of parking is available here for you to wait them out if necessary. BYO ballpoint pen.

Do share your adventures today but don't include spoilers so that you keep the fun going.

Bridge the ether space
by Cherryslice88

Inky seas
Stormy clouds
Gale and rain

Missive small
Changeth hands
Ponies, men and sails

Slowly written
Precious space
Words are few

Heart longeth
Pity spareth
Praying health be well

A word from home
A touch of gold

Distance closed
Short and sweet
Hello and adieu

Today’s missives
Shortened too
Frequent not sparing

Distance closed
But distance still
Sit alongside
Screen immersed

Entertained silly
Day and night
Hiding indoors
Or sun shone sight

Heads bowed down
Not in prayer
For loved ones health

But latest goss
Latest news
Like, dislike,
share, follow, save

Choose a heart
Choose a smile
Smiley frown
Crooked scowl

Big warm hugs
I love yous
Great job done

Close the gap
Stay close friends
Bridge the ether space

From one heart to another
I wish you well
Wholesome fun
Cherished ones
Bridging the ether space

Breath fresh air
Bird life calls
Walk, drive,
cycle, run
Enjoy this moment now

From one heart to another
I wish you well
Wholesome fun
Cherished ones
Bridging the ether space
