Geocache Description:

Note that on 7-24-19 the coords were slightly changed to minimize impact.

This series is located in the Appalachian Mountain Club’s 1,200 acre Cardigan Mountain Reservation with permission. View NH Hiker 1 (GC 874WK) to get background information. You must solve the easy puzzle to obtain the final coords. All needed information can be obtained from the “Four-thousand footers” on WikipediA.

The Puzzle:

N 43 39.4X4 W 71 54.278

A very recent survey by the USGS had deemed Mt. Tecumseh to be a few feet under 4000'. The 4K Committee will have to make a decision about its status. Historically the 4K Committee has changed the list to comply with the current maps but they decided to keep South Hancock which doesn't have a 200' rise from its col with North Hancock. What will they do?

Mt. Tecumseh is 4,00 X feet above sea level.

All containers are winter-friendly soda bottle preforms and should be easy finds. Be aware that cell coverage in the valley is spotty at best.

All trails are marked although some blazes have faded. Cardigan trails are blazed in yellow on the east side (the side of this series) and white on the west side. The summit area of the east side of Cardigan is steep ledge and is very slippery in wet and icy conditions. Also, I STRONGLY advise not to hike to the summit via the upper section of the Holt Trail (above the caches placed in this series) as there is a steep ledge requiring a crack as a hand hold.
