Geocache Description:

Another cache in what has the potential to become a National Numbered Series of Letterbox Hybrid caches, placed to mark one of a diminishing number of post boxes placed in Queen Victoria’s reign and still in use for regular collections by Royal Mail.

A few simple guidelines will apply to the series (subject to amendment):

The post box must carry the Royal Cipher of Queen Victoria (in whatever format)

The box must have regular collections by Royal Mail

The box must be in the British Isles (so United Kingdom and adjoining Crown Dependencies).

Any style or colour of box are valid as long as the above all apply

The Cache

Having solved the Jigsaw (which on a reasonable sized screen should only take 15-20mins) you will need to visit the published co-ords to obtain some values.

Unfortunately GPS signal is not great at GZ, but you should easily spot this fine example of a Victorian “Wall Box” manufactured by the London firm of Architectural iron founders, W.T. Allen & Co., sometime between 1881 and her death in 1902 which is set into a brick pillar outside No 67 Brook St (and adorned with possibly the geocachers least favourite plant), but fear not, there is no ivy involved in the actual hide!

Please DO NOT attempt to park on the road near GZ, traffic is already badly congested with residents parking outside their houses reducing traffic flow to a single lane.

Depending on the time of day of your visit, (and I advise trying to avoid School opening and closing times to make your search les muggly) there may be a small amount of parking available at N51 47.962 W000 39.510, (diagonally opposite the bottom of Shugars Green) but as this is intended for the local residents, I would advise using the parking given in waypoints,
(N 51° 47.973 W 000° 39.597) which is accessed off of Silk Mill Way.

Please take care with small cachers and geodogs as this can be a very busy road and there are usually lots of parked cars, which can restrict visibility.

Please use all your caching skills to avoid being observed whist searching for and retrieving the cache, and re-hide with care - Thank You.

The self-inking rubber stamp in the cache is NOT a trade item, and must remain in the cache!

If you know of an eligible post box and would like to add to this series, please apply to Team Hippo for a series number, giving the following:

Location as in place name (and street if applicable)

Location in Lat Long format (DD MM.MMM)

Postbox number
