August 29th 2019 marks the 55th anniversary of the worldwide release of iconic movie Mary Poppins. (Although Aussies had to wait until April the following year).
Mary Poppins is widely considered to be Walt Disney's 'crowning achievement'. It was the only film of Disney's to earn a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars in his lifetime. However there was some controversy surrounding the adaption from P. L. Travers novel of the same title. The author was less than pleased with many of the decisions made.
55 years later, 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' is a household word. There are many geocaches all around the world dedicated to the characters, songs and other elements of Mary Poppins.
