This series celebrates one of my nerdy little interests - Greek Mythology. There will be a mix of traditional, multi and mystery caches with a bonus two cache at the end (so don’t forget to note down the bonus information in the cache containers at each stop). The caches are spread mainly across the Hepburn Shire and it will require a decent day to complete them all in one go.
In Greek mythology, the 12 olympians are the major deities who sit atop Mt. Olympus. While there were many other gods (and the 12 themselves were third or fourth generation immortals) the 12 were granted their elitist position following the great 10-year-long war of the gods in which the king of the gods, Zeus, led his siblings to victory over the previously ruling titans. Hera is the Queen of the gods - the goddess of Marriage & Fertility. Wedded (rather unhappily) to her unfaithful husband Zeus, much of Greek mythology tells of Hera’s spiteful attempts to gain vengeance. Rather than challenging Zeus directly about his infidelity, Hera often cursed his lovers and subsequent illegitimate offspring (including the famous demi-god Heracles - AKA Hercules), causing unspeakable suffering and anguish for those unlucky enough to suffer her wrath!
This is a simple cache just off the track.Enjoy the pleasant stroll around Lake Daylesford - an especially romantic spot which is somewhat apt for a cache dedicated to the goddess of marriage. Enjoy :)
