Welcome to the town center of Shirley MA!
The town was founded in 1753 when it became a district of the town of Groton. In 1773 the Old Town Meeting House was constructed in the center of the common and was moved to it's currently location (roughly 100 yards back) to it's current location adjacent to the Old Town Hall, which was constructed in 1847 for town affairs. This is one of the last remaining examples of a colonial town center in New England. This area is now faithfully maintained by the Shirley Historic Commission and the Shirley Historical Society.
