Geocache Description:


5th in series. Halimede means, “ Lady of the Brine”. The Nereids were sea nymphs in Greek mythology, 50 in  total, daughters of Nereus “ The Old Man of the Sea and Doris”. The name Nereid means “ Daughters of Nereus “ but also the “ Wet Ones “ from Neros, the Greek word for wet. They were goddesses of the sea’s rich bounty and protector of sailors and fisherman. The Nereids dwelt with their elderly father in a silvery grotto at the bottom of the Aegean Sea.
