Geocache Description:

MT BUFFALO VIEWS

**TAMINICK ABSEIL**

Dundas

Mt Buffalo is one of the standout features of North East Victoria. Over the past few years since I moved here I have come across many different view points at which I have had to stop and take a photo.

This spot is one that I have stared up at ever since moving to Wangaratta. It's a standout feature on the hillside of the Warby Ovens National Park as you drive up the Taminisk Gap road. Access to the area is up to you as there are no official trails into this part of the park. The hillside is steep and rocky and you should watch your step as the area can be quite slippery in the cooler months.

As you reach the area of GZ you will see many vantage points to view not only Mt Buffalo but all around the North East on a clear day.

The cache has been placed at a cliff which has been used for abseiling. You will find permanent anchor points in the rock about 10m uphill from GZ. To find the cache you must drop over the side of the cliff and begin your search. Please be extra careful while in the area as the ground can be slippery and falling over the edge wont end well. Experience with ropes and abseiling will ensure your safety so please only attempt this cache if you are well prepared for the task.

I hope you enjoy it here, and feel free to share photos of the Buffalo views!laugh

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Phytophthora cinnamomi, also known as cinnamon fungus, is a serious plant disease that destroys many native plants. It is present in the Warby Range section of the park. To help prevent the spread of the disease, avoid walking and driving in wet areas. Clean camping gear and boots (recommended cleaner: 1 part bleach, 3 part water) before leaving the site. For further information on Phytophthora visit www.parks.vic.gov.au
