This at the beginning of a steep, narrow road that leads to the east bank of the Pemigewasset River. This is the area know locally as Old Hill Village. The buildings on this side of the river along with many more on the west bank were moved to the modern town of Hill, the Frankliln Falls Dam was built, and floods were controlled. A huge flood in 1936 was the catalyst for moving the town and building the dam. There are many caches along the west bank but not so many here. I am working to balance things a little.
This is a P & G cache, although there are 2 more caches farther along the road as well as a boat ramp where people also fish and swim. Parking is to the left of the gate. The gate is closed in winter and times when the water levels in the reservoir are high. Usually summer and fall have the best odds of the gate being open.
