How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in honor of a beloved neighbor who passed away in 2013, not too long after he won Hickory Hills' first Poker Run. Jmmy loved poker and even had a tattoo on his fingers that read "Aces High." Another thing that we often remember about Jimmy was that one of his favorite movies was "The Wizard of Oz." Though he was no coward, Jimmy especially loved that character, and his impression was a favorite. To open the cache, you'll need to identify this character. The cache is in a plastic ammo box with a lock. There are poker chips with another famous line of Jimmy's that you are welcome to take! If you take an item other than a poker chip, please be sure to leave one of equal value. (Please leave the permanent marker for the special log book so that everyone can sign and stamp.)

Travel bug for the FTF! Congatulations to Bill the Cat 89 for FTF.

This is also a letterbox. PLEASE LEAVE THE STAMP. Bring your own marker or ink pad. The stamp is not handmade, but we hope to create a more original one in the future. If you're not sure what letterboxing is, you can read more about it here.

You can access these trails from the trailhead on Wildwood Rd or from the trailhead on Island Road - neither have parking areas but there is some room to park on the side of the street. For a much longer hike, you can also access this via The Lane Conservation Area, where there is a good parking area and many beautiful trails that run along Mulpus Brook. The best trail maps are available at Alltrails.com, or in Geocaching premium.

You can also Lunenburg's trail system map or Hickory Hills' trail map, though the latter has not been updated to include the land and trail from Wildwood Rd. Hickory Hills is a private lake. The trails were also private until recently.
