Eagle Mill

The Eagle mill was built in 1813 and was the 2nd cotton mill in town. It was not very successful being right after the war of 1812 and was abandoned for a couple of years until the owners sold it in 1820 to Caleb Turner who in turn leased it to Jenks, Brown & Tyler who ran it for 3 years. It was later leased again to Dr Isaac Hodeges for 2 years then sold around 1838 to James Marshall who also leased it out until it was destroyed by fire in 1845. In 1849 the site was sold and it wasnt until 1859 that a new mill began construction. A=111 It was completed, furnished, and running in 1863. Sometime between then and 1885 it became part of The Freeman Manufacturing Company still producing cotton products. In 1905 it was leased to Waterman and Howard who converted it over to a Woolen factory. for additional power it used the raceway (a channel to direct water) output from the nearby Windsor mill which was previously Freeman Manufacturing.

Over time the old mill became a warehouse for the Windsor Print Works, Wall Streeter Shoe Company and A. Shapiro and Sons.

On March 31, 1971, the vacant mill went up in flames as it was being prepared for demolition.

The building on the left in the above picture is where Dominos is now.
