This cache was placed to encourage a walk along Maple Run Lane. It runs at an easy grade between the Sterling Gorge parking area and West Hill Road. This cache is placed at the junction where Billings Road runs uphill, joining the Catamount Trail, and eventually over the ridge to Edson Hill. It serves as an important link for Stowe's extensive mountain bike network between various conservation properties. Several historic home sites lie along this section of Maple Run when it was part of the now abandoned town of Sterling. A map of these sites is shown at the trailhead.
The cache is a small camo container which is winter friendly.
