Many people do not know it, but just upriver from Fredericton there is a small mountain next to the Saint John River that is volcanic in origin. (You can see it from the Westmorland Street bridge) I have driven by it several hundred times in my lifetime but had not visited it for several years prior to placing this cache. The property is owned by the University of New Brunswick, and is quite unique. Currie mountain is forested in large white pine and hemlock trees, as well as red oaks and hop-hornbeams. There is an old chimney located not far from the summit which I found quite interesting. I do not know the history of it but it would seem that there at some time in the past there was a house or camp there. If anyone knows, please educate me!
The cache is located not far from the summit of the mountain and can be accessed by following the trail that winds its way up the mountain. Please keep in mind that this is a sensitive ecological area.
The cache is housed in a camouflaged tobacco can, and contains a log book, stashnote, and trading items.
Happy Hunting!
