Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches located in Haw Ridge Park -- a geocaching park. The caches are maintained by the Friends of Haw Ridge Park in cooperation with the City of Oak Ridge Recreations & Parks. The park terrain is wooded and hilly, and the trails rough. You'll need water, trail map, and hiking shoes. The trails can also be ridden by experienced mountain bikers. The park is accessible by canoe and sea kayak as well. It can be hot and humid in the summer. Fall colors abound in late October, and wild flowers in mid April. The park is closed three weekends each fall for deer hunts.

The caches are near the various trails that run through the park, so no bushwhacking is required or desired. Use one of the trail maps available at the Haw Ridge trails page to plan and guide your search. For other caches in the park click on "Nearby caches" or visit the Haw Ridge caches page for an overview of the cache locations and top geocachers.

The coordinates for this cache will lead you to the namesake of this cache. Several of these specimen can be found on the north face of the ridge, but this is the only specimen on the south side of the Park. From the specimen, follow the trail west down to the small creek bed, turn upstream on a former road bed, go about 40' to the hidden cache.
