Geocache Description:

The Cache.

A commemorative puzzle cache published on the birthday of 'Bloodsock', who was an avid and prolific geocacher. But more than this, Fred was also a father, a grandfather and cherished friend to Team Baby_Jester; never forgotten, always sorely missed.

Bloodsock tragically lost his battle with cancer in 2018 after a brave fight, but we have placed this cache in his memory so he can continue to be part of the caching family and also in the thoughts of those who claim this find.

This cache is twinned with the nearby caches “Little Bridges #1700 – Bloodsock's Birthday Bridge” (GC89HQY) and “CM13383 – Dorney, St James the Less – Bloodsock’s Birthday Bethel” (GC8TNKY).

The Puzzle.

Along with geocaching and cricket, one of Fred’s passions in life was rugby union and he particularly loved following team England during the 6 Nations tournaments. As a proud, dyed-in-the-wool Yorkshireman, Fred was a staunch England fan and always enjoyed showing his support wherever England travelled.

Every year he and a group of friends would plan which matches they wanted to attend, both in England and abroad, and Fred would arrange match tickets, travel and accommodation for the group. Over the years, Fred made many trips with his mates to France, Italy, Ireland and the home nations, often visiting Team Baby_Jester for a beer and a curry when he made the pilgrimage to Twickenham.

Whilst he loved to see England win by playing skilful and exciting rugby, the real joy for Fred in this hobby (as with everything) was spending time with friends, having a few laughs, and making the most of what life had to offer. That said, a pint of beer after a storming England victory always tasted that tiny bit sweeter, no matter where he was.
