Luke Skywalker is the son of fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (turned Dark Lord Darth Vader). Luke discovers he possesses his father’s ability to use the Force; a mysterious energy field that provides extraordinary abilities, such as levitating objects, tricking minds, and seeing things before they happen.
What Luke needs is rigorous Jedi Knight training to increase his power and master the Force. He seeks out Jedi Master Yoda to train him in the ways of the Force.
During Luke’s training, Yoda explains that fear is the path to the dark side which his father, Darth Vader, has taken. In his famous three-sentence quote, Yoda says:
“Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
Yoda’s words were heeded by Luke who learns to manage his fear, conquer Darth Vader, and ultimately become a legendary Jedi Master.
