Geocache Description:

Mt Samaria Series #7

Mt Samaria is a state park located approximately 40minute drive from Benalla. The park features rocky peaks, lush bushland, waterfalls and countless impressive views. The park is the home to over 300 flora species and countless animals including the elusive lyre bird.

This series of caches will take you off track to the western faces of the park. From there, impressive views of the Strathbogies and Lake Nilllahcootie can be experienced from the countless escarpments. This series is designed as a one way hike taking you from back creek falls to young’s road which is a minimum of an 11km journey. Please be prepared for any weather conditions that may occur during your journey and although there is phone signal for the majority of the way, be aware that if you run into trouble you may be a fair while away from help.

Please pay attention to the clues left in the back page of the logs book that will help you find the final for the series. Some caches have clues, some don’t and some have ones that don’t actually help you for the final.

#7

This cache is located on a rocky slope at the side of a hill in the western slopes of Samaria. From there you can experience views all the way to lake Nillahcootie. The cache is located on the highest rock formation in a rock gap at the top. Please see the spoiler photo for more help.
