This little puzzle's solution will take you on a lovely little stroll along the western shore of the Knysna Estuary below Belvidere Estate. "Rutherford Way" - named after the gentleman whose concept and design helped Belvidere Estate into being built in the late 1980's, is a popular little walk for local residents with or without their furry friends. It is keept clear and well maintained by the Belvidere Home Owners' Association.
Please do not leave any rubbish behind and especially do not carelessly toss away cigarette stumps! This area has been plagued by vicious fires before and suffered quite badly also in the 2017 Great Knysna Fires - a little spark may be all it needs to cause disaster. By the way valid for the entire area of the Garden Route, so please be mindful of that!
There are a couple of turn offs up the hill into the Estate which lead to viewpoints just as lovely as the little beaches along the walk. I have attached a satellite photo of the village with a suggested walking tour for a nature walk which you might enjoy. It should take about 20-30 minutes in a leisurely stroll and gives you a chance to see the quaint character of the area, beautiful views of the estuary and well-kept gardens as well as the parklands of Belvidere and some stunning bird-life along the way.
