The Becket Land Trust Historic Quarry and Forest is owned and operated by the Becket Land Trust .
A recent partnership between The Trustees and the Becket Land Trust has brought the Becket Historic Quarry and Forest property into the care of The Trustees.
The Chester-Hudson Granite Quarry operated for approximately 100 years and closed in the late 1940’s.
When the quarry closed much of the equipment and structures were left in place. The quarry most likely operated seasonally and may have been closed normally as cold weather arrived and never reopened the next year.
At the posted coordinates you will find a reconstructed derrick. To log this virtual cache send me the answers to a few questions. On the large wheel that rotated the derrick how many round rod spokes are there? How many I-beam spokes? Ten feet up the derrick is a pulley, how many horizontal holes are there not counting the one in the center?

Geocacher parking (free) is across from the last driveway on Bonnie Rigg Hill Rd. It is then a .26 mi walk down the old road followed by an easy 100' bushwhack to the trail. See waypoints below. The hike from paid parking and geocacher parking is roughly the same.
