This is the last major viewpoint on the trail to the summit of Black Mtn. (Benton) on the Chippewa Trail. It's a great view to the south with peaks like Kearsarge and Cardigan visible in the distance and many more closer. If you've come this far you should continue to the top--the view there is much wider--Franconia Ridge to the N. and peaks like Killington in VT to the W. Be careful if you use Google to get you to the Chippewa Trailhead. You need to be on Lime Kiln Road. In my case Google took me near the other trail which is longer and much less scenic.
This hide is a buffalo tube in an evergreen near the highest point of the viewpoint, near the trail. Trailhead to summit is 1.8 mi and this is about 1.4. The trail continues into the trees and so this is the last view until the summit.
A short side trip to the Lime Kilns is worth it, although on 3/16/22 I couldn't find the cache there.
Congratulations to Compass88 for FTF.
