This cache is part of a group of Chesterites who are celebrating our town's 300 anniversary!
The original house that is now Bittersweet Blessings was built in 1736 by Rev. Ebenezer Flag. In 1802, Governor John Bell bought the house, turned it around and then built the Georgian front section. Dr. Emerson opened his practice here in 1883. He added Victorian turrets on the porch around 1900. Dr. Emerson served as NH’s Surgeon General. In 1929, the town of Chester purchased the property to try and make an eldery home, however the house did not meet the town’s expectations and was sold to Albert Warren in 1946. In 1976, White Pines College (named was changed to Chester College) bought the building and used the barn for their photography lab. In 1999, it was turned into the Art Program headquarters. In 2012, Chester College closed and Bittersweet Blessings bought the property.
