Geocache Description:

Wapack Trail: Stone Wall Crossing

As my family and I were enjoying some of the beautiful scenery here in New Hampshire via hiking, we thought that we'd leave a few geocaches for our fellow cachers to find. This was one of those. Enjoy the trail as you explore. When you intersect a stone wall along the trail, you will know that you are close.

As a historian, it has always interested me that so many people (at least at one point) used to settle, live, and farm New England. However, as more fertile lands opened up, many such farmers left for greener pastures. However, the agricultural / property line barriers (the stone walls ubiquitous around these parts) have remained, despite the decades of time that has passed, though little else remains.

Note that this cache is about a ~2.5 mile hike from the North Midstate Trail Terminus Trailhead (see waypoint), and about ~4.5 miles from the Binney Hill trailhead (see waypoint). Wear good shoes, a hiking stick if you'd like, and lots of drinking water.

As I learned as a boy scout, and also as a responsible outdoorsman, I challenge you as well to follow the principles of Leave No Trace:

1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
3. Dispose of Waste Properly
4. Leave What You Find
5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
6. Respect Wildlife
7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors
