This is the third of 7 geocaches in a series that is designed to inform people about the history of Weathersfield Vermont. Each site has some significance to the town. In each cache there is a letter of the alphabet. When you have found all 7 of the caches, arrange the letters that you found to spell a word that has to do with a part of Weathersfield history. The answer will be a person's last name who never actually lived in his namesake. Email the owner of this series and receive a small gift from the historical society for your efforts. We hope you have enjoyed a little bit about our town.
This cache is actually near the cemetery of a distinquished individual of our community. He was very active in town events and positions but he was most known for being a Counsel to Portugal and introducing merino sheep to New England. If you want more info on this person go back to the main road and take a right. In the tiny settlement you will see a private brick home that he lived in with a sign post out front giving you more information. Please respect the property as this is a private home.
Note that the coordianates are to the cache and not to the cemetery plot of this person. If you read the sign post on Rt 5 you will know the name of the name of the person and can try to find where he is buried. Also his name is in the hint on this page.
