I'll examine the Why's in reverse order.
The last Why: Why would Crashco put a cache way out here? Just ask anyone who knows me or look at my other hides.
The middle Why: Why would anyone put a memorial way out here? It would appear that no one knows ,Read here.
The first Why: Why would anyone put a church here and then move it wholesale? See middle why.
About the cache:
The road (Maplewood Farm Rd) leads directly to the trail which is what is left of a road that once went through (hence the Dead End sign). It is on the left if you are coming up Granby Rd from VT 102. The trail is obvious but not maintained/cleared. I recommend not wearing dresses, skirts or shorts.
I believe most people would rather use the turnaround for parking but the trail parking does not require exceptional clearance, just the confidence to back into a fairly small spot.
The turn off the Maplewood Farm trail is obvious (and published here). Once you turn here, you can follow this trail directly to the memorial/cache. You will be looking for a plastic ammo can that shouldn't be very hard to find. The round trip is about 2.5 miles from the turnaround, 2 miles from the trail parking.
