Geocache Description:

Around Skir Hill is a series consisting of 30 caches, including 2 bonus caches, placed on Dartmoor's South Moor. The route starts at the Combestone Tor car park and can be completed in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction and is approximately 5.6 miles (9km) in length.

There are 2 Bonus caches. The midway bonus can be found by doing the series in either direction. All bonus numbers are repeated in a second cache.

This cache is not at the given coordinates but at:
N 50° 31.(J+K+L) W 003° 52.(M+N+P)

This is a significant trek into Dartmoor's South Moor which will probably take the best part of a full day. All of the caches have been placed to be easily found and all are of size "small" or bigger with several containing both children's and adult's swag.

The route of this series is similar to the Skir Hill Trail, but is a more direct route and as far as possible avoids much of the difficult terrain of the earlier series. The vast majority is on good paths and tracks, but there are a couple of more difficult parts which cannot be avoided.

I have included some waypoints on some caches to guide you through the more difficult terrain. These have been given assuming that you will be completing the series in numerical sequence.

Skir Hill is a fairly remote spot on Dartmoor and at its furthest point this trail is over 1.5 miles from the nearest road. The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map & compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS.

All caches have been placed with the kind permission of the Dartmoor National Park Authority and in accordance with their geocaching guideline.
