From GZ you will be looking at Isle La Motte Passage. Isle La Motte Passage is the body of water to the east of VT 129.
Isle La Motte is one of the best ice fishing spots in Vermont. Here, near dusk, ice fishers catch the only freshwater fish in the Cod family: the burbot. With an appearance like a cross between a catfish and an eel, the burbot has a serpent-like body, but is easily distinguished by a single barbel on the chin. The burbot lives under ice, and it requires frigid temperatures to breed. Burbot are most active after dark, and can be readily caught using dead bait set on the bottom. So, the icey, evening waters of Isle La Motte Passage are the perfect romantic setting for love-bit bottom dewellers.
