Forest Park Pentacache Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

*gln: This one has been needing maintenance for some time now. The final is missing as well as some of the other waypoints. If this cache is repaired, it can be reactivated.

Thanks a million for all the work that has gone into keeping this cache alive.

I hope to see this come to life again.

Geocache Description:

“I present to you, the people of St. Louis, your own, this large and beautiful Forest Park for enjoyment of yourselves, your children and your children's children forever... The rich and poor, the merchant and mechanic, the professional man and day laborer, each with his family and lunch basket, can come here and enjoy his own...all without stint or hindrance...and there will be no notice put up, ‘Keep Off the Grass.’” —Chauncy F. Shultz, June 24, 1876, Opening Ceremony for Forest Park

General Information:
UPDATE: 4/11/02:
Until ownership is officially transferred, Darkman & the Shadow will be the caretaker of this cache. Email Darkman & the Shadow on all matters involving this cache. We would like to thank Big Jimmy and BJ Best for setting this cache up. This is much too good a cache to just let it be archived. Many thanks to Darkman & the Shadow for stepping up and repairing this cache.

This is a five-part multi-stage cache hidden in Forest Park. This cache is a true tour de parc, intended to show you a variety of features and locations (both well-known and not) of St. Louis’s largest park. The straight-line route to all five caches is about 2.7 miles (although a bike, car, etc. can be used to get fairly close to all caches); figure on spending a few hours in the park.

The first four caches simply contain coordinates to the next cache; the fifth is a typical “treasure” cache. The coordinate caches are all rectangular, measuring 10” x 6” x 2 ½” and have white lids. The final cache is a roomy 15” x 10” x 5” and has automatic, air, a six-disc changer, leather interior, and a white lid. Please note that there are neither writing utensils nor paper in the coordinate caches, so bring these items along if you’d like them! There is a good selection of starter loot to choose from.

As Forest Park is obviously well-traveled, we ask that you carefully re-hide the caches.

Good luck and enjoy!
