Geocache Description:

The Rochester Department of Public Works operated on Old Dover Road from 1950 until the end of 2021. Decisions were made to relocate and a plot of land on Chestnut Hill Road was puchased for its new home. Workers broke ground on June 30, 2020 and the official opening date was on December 30, 2021. At the time of the decision to relocate, the DPW consisted of 65 employees which maintain city roadways, water and sewer utilities, and public buildings and grounds. The project was to the tune of a cool $20 million, resulting in a 55,000 square-foot facility which houses administrative offices, an engineering area, vehicle maintenance area and even a communications station for emergency services. The Rochester Snow Plow sits proudly on display at the front entrance to the facility.

Final coordinates are:

N43 20.ABC  /  W070 59.DEF

(If the previous location was on New Dover Road then ABC=321; otherwise ABC=192

If the project cost over $20 million then DEF=876; otherwise DEF=696)
