This is a turn out view area for North-bound traffic going across the Golden Gate Bridge. If you are in the area, its a must see.
You are looking for a statue of a lone individual.
To log this cache: You will need to physically visit this location. I know, it seems dumb that I have to spell that out, but I do. While at this location take a picture of the merchant marine mariner. The picture must include either 1) yourself (aka,a selfie), or 2) if you prefer privacy, a scrap of paper with your caching name clearly and visibly written on it. Then upload the image in your log.
