This cache, placed near the Switchback Trail, is within the Aldis Hill Playground. This public recreation area is managed by a non-profit Trust and is adjacent to the Hard'ack Recreation Area, which is owned and managed by the City of St. Albans. There are numerous trails in the Aldis Hill Playground that are good for hiking and mountain biking. Hard'ack offers a multitude of sports activities including skiing, an indoor/outdoor pool, soccer and lacrosse and more.
To hike to the cache location from the top of the hill, take the Main Loop Trail to the Broken Wheel Trail and then to the Switchback Trail. To hike from the Greg Brown Lodge, head north across the soccer field to the cross country trails and make your way along the edge of the woods until you find the Switchback Trail.
You may park at the Greg Brown Lodge, or, if the gate is closed, at the Dog Park or you may park on Governor Smith Drive and hike across the lawn to the trailhead by the brick wall. All trails are open 7 days a week during daylight hours.
