Geocache Description:

The Blanchard Cemetery, also known as the Old North Cemetery, was first used in 1775 and contains 161 known graves. While the newest grave is from 2010, it appears that there had been no burials prior to that since 1854. The cemetery is placed on a hilltop, above the intersection of Guilford Center Road and Weatherhead Hollow Road. Notable names include some of the Rice family who were the first settlers in Guilford in 1761, across the way on the west side of Weatherhead Hollow. Many Revolutionary War soldiers' graves are marked, such as Captain Asa Rice, son of the first settler. Several stones have the names of families who still live in town, such as Bullock, Houghton, Lynde and Weatherhead. Some, like Weatherhead and Bullock, are reflected in road names such as Barney, Briggs, Melendy and Packer. Oddly enough, there are no Blanchards.

This short puzzle will take you on a walk through the cemetery, gathering information from stones. Parking is across the road and access is by a short path up a hill. Waypoints are provided for stones, but they are in most cases at the south end of a row in either the center section or on the south side. All gravestones but one are upright and winter-friendly except in times of very deep snow.

Find the answer on each listed stone to solve for N42 AB.CDE W072 FG.HIJ.

The first stop is the southwestern most stone at the posted coordinates and commemorates a young man who died in his teens. The last digit of his age when he died is E.

Moving east to the next section, this low stone has a cartoon-like face on it and is in memory of a young girl. The number representing the month she was born is H.

Gravestone three is one of the southernmost stones and is in memory of a gentleman who died in Mayy (as written). FG is his age when he died.

Gravestone four is in memory of a gentleman with a family name that is still known in town who died at the age of 77. Take the number of letters in the word before the month he died and use the number representing that month for AB.

Go to the gravestone behind a tree on the south side. The number representing the month of her death is J.

This next gravestone is found on the way to the bench and features an angel on top. It is for a gentleman who died in 1800. The first digit of his age when he died is I.

The bench is in memory of the most recent burial here. A grave marker is set into the ground. The last two digits of the year of his death are CD.

You will be looking for a winter-friendly pre-form tube.
