Kaltehofe-Hauptdeich Kaltehofe (früher auch Kalte Hofe) ist eine durch Flussbaumaßnahmen entstandene künstliche Elbinsel im Hamburger Stadtteil Rothenburgsort. Bekannt ist Kaltehofe vor allem als Standort des ehemaligen Wasserwerks und Hygienischen Instituts, das heute die Stiftung Wasserkunst Elbinsel Kaltehofe beherbergt.
Ursprünglich lag Kaltehofe zusammen mit der Peute am linken Ufer der Norderelbe. In der Zeit von 1875 und 1879 wurde zwischen Peute und Kaltehofe ein Durchstich angelegt, um den Verlauf der Norderelbe zu begradigen. Der ursprüngliche Verlauf der Elbe bildet heute die Billwerder Bucht und den Holzhafen.
Ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Elbinsel ist der Deich zur Elbe hin. Er zieht sich als Kaltehofe-Hauptdeich vom Sperrwerk Billwerder Bucht (Deichkilometer 34,1) die ganze Elbinsel entlang und wird bei Deichkilometer 32,4 zum Moorfleeter Hauptdeich.

Die Umgebung Vor allem bei schönem Wetter sind viele Spaziergänger auf dem Deich unterwegs. Auch mit vielen Radfahrern ist zu rechnen, denn die Deichstraße ist die ideale Radverbindung von der Innenstadt in die Vier- und Marschlande. Parkmöglichkeiten und eine Haltestelle der Buslinie 530 befinden sich in der Nähe.

Kaltehofe-Hauptdeich Kaltehofe (formerly also Kalte Hofe) is an artificial Elbe island in the Rothenburgsort district of Hamburg that was created by river engineering works. Kaltehofe is best known as the site of the former waterworks and hygiene institute, which is now home to the Wasserkunst Elbinsel Kaltehofe Foundation.
Kaltehofe was originally located together with Peute on the left bank of the Norderelbe. Between 1875 and 1879, a cut was made between Peute and Kaltehofe in order to straighten the course of the Norderelbe. Today, the original course of the Elbe forms Billwerder Bay and the timber harbour.
An essential part of the Elbe island is the dyke facing the Elbe. The Kaltehofe main dyke stretches from the Billwerder Bucht barrier (dyke kilometre 34.1) along the entire Elbe island and becomes the Moorfleeter main dyke at dyke kilometre 32.4.

The surrounding area Many walkers are out and about on the dyke, especially when the weather is nice. Many cyclists can also be expected, as the dyke road is the ideal cycle connection from the city centre to the Vier- und Marschlande. There are car parking facilities and a bus stop on the 530 bus route nearby.
